my cat seems hurt? don't know what to do…?

I have two cats — 2 brothers from the same litter — they are 1 and a half years old….
the other day they both came tumbling down the stairs — head over heels…and seemed to have landed with a thump! the first cat (elvis) jumped up and was fine….his brother (sneezy) — has been acting different ever since…
He was always the first to jump up on things….counter, refrigerator, chairs, beds, etc., he was and is always into things….curious! is the word , I guess!
anyhow, since the "tumble" down the stairs with his brother, he now acts like it’s so hard to climb up on the sofa, bed, or anything……he acts like he’s climbing Mt. Everest!! He walks OK, eats OK, everything seems OK– except he’s not climbing up on things…..and seems like his back legs (or back?) may be hurt???
I haven’t noticed any werid swelling, keep petting him to feel for any abnormalties……but nothing..
He just seems hurt and I"m really concerned….

Maybe he slipped a disk in his spine? Or sprained a leg? Pulled a muscle? The fact is that you don’t know, but bringing him to a vet would be best, so the vet can do an x-ray and see what may be wrong. I say bringing him to a vet would be best, maybe he is in pain, but he cannot tell you.

    take him to the vet

He could have pulled a muscle, sprained his leg. It would be a good idea to get him to the vet as it sounds like he is in pain.

Sounds like he just hurt himself. Possibly a back injury, that is usually the culprit for not jumping like they used to. Not much you can do for a bruise, strain or sprain. Just rest. Keep an eye on any other behavioral changes though, eating/drinking, bathroom habits. Take him to the vet if anything else changs.

Is it that he *can’t* climb, or that he just *doesn’t*? If he is having trouble walking and climbing things normally, you should take him to the vet. If he just seems nervous about it, it might be that he is just a little more cautious now.

He could be hurt..but i hate to say until you take him to the vet you wont know. It’s possible he may have sprained something. The odds of him really getting badly hurt are not likely but if he banged his back or bruised something it would take a few days to heal. It’s not an emergency if he doesn’t seem in pain or doesn’t cry when you touch him but if you really think in a few days he’s just not "right" i would get it checked out just to be sure…I honestly wouldn’t worry about it…and i have 6 cats and i worry about everything!!!!

Well he may be acting a lot more cautious now because he doesn’t want it to happen again. Maybe he got hurt too but it doesn’t sound that bad. I would probably wait a couple of days and if he doesn’t improve at all go to the vet.
Maybe try encouraging him to jump onto the couch so he doesn’t seem as scared. If it looks like its physically hurting him then I wouldn’t do this.

vet ASAP if you ignore the fact that he may be in pain you might kill him…and thats horrible
